DGS team wins Faraday Challenge!

Posted on: 13/02/2020

The Faraday Challenge is a competition for teams of six year 8 students who must race against the clock to solve a real-life engineering problem, putting their engineering, technology and teamwork skills to the test.

The teams have to come up with an innovative solution to a brief, then research, design and build a prototype which will address their engineering challenge. The teams also have to complete documentation, keep track of their finances, work to strict deadlines and present their project to the judges at the end of the day.

Faraday Challenge days are run by the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) and are held all over the UK to allow young people to experience being an engineer for a day. Our local event was held at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory on February 11th. Our DGS team performed strongly in an extremely tough competition, scoring points consistently in every part of the challenge and were the overall winners at the end of the day.

Well done girls - what a great achievement!
